Arctic tasting

Book a guided tasting experience from the world’s northernmost distillery. The experience includes tastings, and you will learn about making first-class alcohol north of the Arctic Circle. We guarantee local tastes and interesting facts!

Get a glimpse into the mythical past of Viking age drinking customs and learn about high-tech alcohol production at the top of the world. During this exciting tasting, you will see, feel and smell Arctic ingredients used in the production at the world’s northernmost distillery – Aurora Spirit.

There are three different tasting experiences:

1. Learn about aquavit, the Norwegian national spirit, an arch-Norwegian product with traditions in Norway dating back many centuries. The alcohol is based on caraway and dill and is usually stored in oak barrels for more than six months. As well as gaining an introduction to the history of aquavit, you will taste four different varieties with distinctive characters.

2. Taste the history of the world’s northernmost distillery. While hearing the fascinating story of the creation of the world’s northernmost distillery, you will taste four different alcohols, each with its own story: gin, whisky, aquavit and vodka.

3. Indulge in the art of wine tasting as you explore exquisite flavours and aromas with Malangen Resort’s own sommelier.
During the tasting experience, there will be a light serving of local food such as cured meats and cheese.
